EBL was the Engineer of Record for the DEVCOM’s newly renovated and expanded Biomanufacturing Pilot Facility at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
The $50 million renovation and expansion of the 25,000-square-foot Biomanufacturing Pilot Facility filled a vital niche in the effort to both free the nation from foreign suppliers and pioneer the creation of entirely new materials essential for national defense.
EBL was engaged to investigate the current condition and functionality of the building and provide corrective solutions to upgrade and modernize the building systems. EBL prepared construction documents for upgrades, modernization, and energy conservation/sustainability upgrades. One lab was converted to a first of its kind synthetic biology Lab. The types and quantities of chemicals used in that lab required structural modifications for blast control / over pressurization relief.
