Beverly Farms Replacement Elementary School

Client:Muse Architects
Project:Beverly Farms Replacement Elementary School

Project Information

This project entailed the design of the Beverly Farms Elementary School 94,000 SF replacement school. EBL provided the design of the:

  • mechanical (heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, and energy recovery systems),
  • electrical (power, lighting, and telecommunications systems),
  • plumbing (sanitary, stormwater, domestic hot, cold, and recirculation systems, natural gas, and radon exhaust systems), and
  • fire protection (sprinkler and fire alarm).

Each classroom was provided with its own dedicated geothermal heat pump unit to allow individual room control. Administrative areas were also served by more generalized geothermal heat pumps to provide control of office suites or pods of common areas. A geothermal water loop was provided to connect the various heat pumps to a geothermal field located beneath adjacent Montgomery County Parks and Recreation athletic fields. Automatic temperature controls were designed as direct digital type and connected to Montgomery County Public School’s central control center. Due to the electric loads, a new 480 volt electric service was provided. This project was certified LEED Gold.
