Who are EBL Engineers, LLC and EBL Fire Engineering?
We are a small firm that has been around for fifty years originally focused on mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering. Our EBL Fire Engineering subsidiary was established in 1988 to focus on providing fire protection, building code, and life safety design and consultation. EBL Fire Engineering was originally founded as Hanna Fire Engineering in 1976 by one of the University of Maryland’s earliest Fire Protection Engineering graduates. Since that time, we have continually provided fire protection consulting services to the built environment.
Our clients include the military, federal and local governments, hospitals, commercial developers, educational institutions, building managers, architects, and engineers. All are looking for our expertise on building code, fire protection design and oversight. Our project list includes stadiums, hospitals, laboratories, schools, and office buildings, plus some projects we can’t talk about.
We are looking for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. We are offering the opportunity of taking on a current or future leadership role in the department, if that is a career goal for you. We pride ourselves in creating an environment where you can work, grow, and still have a life.
Job Description and General Duties
Your work will be varied from day to day and week to week. As we are a small firm, but with an extensive project resume, we have larger projects that fit the more traditional consulting concept, but also smaller consulting engagements that pop up and provide a bit of variety. You will work independently as well as be a member of a multi-discipline project team.
Your responsibilities will include a mix of project management, mentoring, design oversight, consulting engagements, etc. We are always bringing in new team members that require training and oversight to develop their respective skill sets. A candidate for this position would be someone that could assist with that work.
We are Seeking the Following Individual
We are looking for someone to work in our office that loves fire protection engineering, wants to learn, and can direct the work of other engineers. A qualified candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering field and be a registered professional engineer. If you are degreed in another field of engineering, but have relevant fire protection and project management experience, please let us know.
To apply, you must have at least six years of experience with an emphasis in a multi-discipline consulting engineering environment. Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to explain complex engineering solutions in a clear and technically sound manner. Demonstrable experience in consulting on the International Building Code (IBC) and Life Safety Code® are required.
