Who are EBL Engineers, LLC and EBL Fire Engineering?
We are a small firm that has been around for fifty years originally focused on mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering. Our EBL Fire Engineering subsidiary was established in 1988 to focus on providing fire protection, building code, and life safety design and consultation. EBL Fire Engineering was originally founded as Hanna Fire Engineering in 1976 by one of the University of Maryland’s earliest Fire Protection Engineering graduates. Since that time, we have continually provided fire protection consulting services to the built environment.
Our clients include the military, federal and local governments, hospitals, commercial developers, educational institutions, building managers, architects, and engineers. All are looking for our expertise on building code, fire protection design and oversight. Our project list includes stadiums, hospitals, laboratories, schools, and office buildings, plus some projects we can’t talk about.

We are Seeking the Following Individual
We are looking for recent and future graduates to work in one of our offices that love fire protection engineering and want to learn. A qualified candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in fire protection engineering or a related engineering field. If you are degreed in another field of engineering, but have the desire to learn, please let us know.
To apply, you must have at least 0-3 years of experience with a desire to work in a multi-discipline consulting engineering environment. Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to explain complex engineering solutions in a clear and technically sound manner.
Job Description and General Duties
Your work will be varied from day to day and week to week. As we are a small firm, but with an extensive project resume, we have larger projects that fit the more traditional consulting concept, but also smaller consulting engagements that pop up and provide a bit of variety. You will work independently as well as be a member of a multi-discipline project team.
Key Candidate Criteria
- Bachelor of Science degree in fire protection engineering or a related engineering field.
- Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD knowledge is desirable.
- Willing to work in-office in the Bethesda or Baltimore area but also participate in light travel.
