EBL conducted a study of return-air air handling units on the FDA campus in Silver Spring, MD.
The study looked at 133 return-air air handling units (AHUs) serving 10 buildings to determine which were most vulnerable to redistributing pathogens. The report also included recommendations on making each of these units more capable of reducing pathogen spread throughout their respective areas of service.
Recommendations included increasing the filtration, increasing the proportion of the fresh air distributed, adding UV Sections or a combination of the above.
