﷯Innovative Solutions
EBL designs sustainable solutions to many unique and complicated mechanical engineering problems. Our projects include analyses, upgrades, wholesale replacements, new systems, and recommendations for improved system performance. Each project undergoes a thorough review of the proposed operations and required maintenance procedures to meet the client’s needs and specifications. Diverse Experience
Our expertise has been applied to all types of facilities. We carefully analyze and design each mechanical system to ensure optimal performance when integrated with other key systems. This results in cost-effective systems that are tailored to project requirements.

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD

EBL provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services for improvements to the NASA Integration and Testing complex. The NASA I&T facility includes the 1.3 million cubic foot Spacecraft Systems Development and Integration Facility (SSDIF), the largest clean room of its kind.

Due to existing system and equipment age, reliability, condition and evolving mission requirements, NASA recognized the necessity to modernize and enhance numerous mechanical and electrical systems throughout the complex.

Our tasks included designs for the replacement of building electrical switchgear; replacement of multiple critical environment air handling units,  control sequence and system improvements, fire alarm and sprinkler system modifications; rain water conductor repair/replacement; and foundation drain/waterproofing improvements.

For the SSDIF Clean Room, we produced design documents for the replacement of primary dehumidification and pressurization air handling units; controls upgrades; replacement of six 200 Hp primary circulating fan motors and VFDs; and evaluated and enhanced the primary cooling coil wall functionality.

All work was coordinated and sequenced to maintain mission continuity with zero interruptions at the facility, which operates on a 24 hours per day, 365 day per year schedule.
