Brice House, Annapolis, MD
The challenge posed by restoration efforts at the Brice House was to provide the mechanical and electrical systems that would meet the new owner’s requirements for modern system capabilities, while preserving the historic character both inside and out of this 1766 structure. Communication and power outlets for small meeting and conferences are conveniently located in the center of the larger rooms, but are carefully concealed beneath removable sections of the original flooring. Air conditioning supply air and return air devices are crafted from wood or plaster to meet EBL’s specifications. Condensing units, which serve attic or basement mounted air handlers, are located remote from the house for both concealment and noise attenuation purposes, and are connected by buried refrigerant lines.
